The Wisdom of Man versus the infinite God

It's amazing to see how science has figured out all the wonders of the Universe, and placed them right there for us to view on the wide screen TV.
From the birth of galaxies, to the very nature and properties of Light,
We certainly seem to have made great strides in man's knowledge and wisdom.
The big bang theory, the ideas of time travel through "wormholes," the evolution of species and the very idea that we can measure the width or depth of the galaxy and our universe of which we are, admittedly, such a small part, had become the educational stimulation for generations of scientists. I sit there dumbfounded until I scarce can take all the man-made explanations of things that we are only beginning to believe we can understand, yet the commentator with the Australian or English accent sounds so smug, so secure in his explanation of the cosmos we inhabit; how could he ever be wrong?

The one thing he has forgotten is the existence of the One true God, the Creator of all this wonder that we think we are beginning to understand and explain. "Oh," you say, "what makes you think we should believe THAT old superstitious explanation of our beginning, when we have all of man's wisdom and the scientific explanation of all things in the world around us." Well, I might tend to agree with you except for one thing . . . That Creator God, the One who began it all, cared enough and LOVED enough to send his Son in the form of a man. That man was prophesied and foretold for generations and he was born in a manger in Bethlehem to Jewish parents, just as was prophesied. The historical record of his life on earth is greater than for almost any human who has ever lived, yet many deny His existence and His role in the very creation of the planet we inhabit. The fact that he died and then conquered death so that no one need to live without hope is also considered quite the fairy tale in our time. The REAL truth for you is, what do you believe? Faith is simply stepping beyond the evidence of the truth, and claiming that Truth for your own.

In this 21st century of our timeline on this earth, even the Church, the "bride of Christ" spoken of in the Holy, inerrant scriptures, is falling away from the truth of the Gospel and it's proclamation to those who need to accept His mercy. Preachers no longer proclaim and tell forth the Gospel, the Good News of Jesus Christ. They have become enamored with their own words, the poetry of the language and the comfort of their position. Even more deadly, the Christians who have already received the Good News, those who have the greatest hope of the ages, who have an assured future far beyond death have ceased telling the message of salvation and rescue from certain destruction.

It is all there, you know . . . It's found in the Holy Bible, that Word of truth that holds the REAL secrets of the ages . . . The ones that truly affect YOU and your future long beyond the time you spend on this earth. It is fascinating to study science, as long as you don't allow it to answer questions that only the One, true God who loves you can provide . . . If you have questions, please don't hesitate to email me. I love photography and yes, I will get back to more about it on this blog, but I still feel the need to speak the truth to those who have ears to hear.

Full Moon Summer Nights, when the weather is "JUST right" . . .

Ok, I know it is almost 1:30 am, and I have been up since just after Midnight, but I can't help it . . . I love a full-moon summer night like this one! It causes me to wake up & enjoy the evening petting my wandering beagle, who has been tied up because he won't stay home.

It also causes me to dream . . . and to be thankful, and yes, even to worship my Creator, the one true God. The last first . . . I praise God because the gift of his Son, Jesus Christ, the Son of God and Son of Man, The only perfect sacrifice for our sins BECAUSE he is both fully God and fully man; yes He who was with God at the beginning of time and was the agent of creation! This triune God I serve has my whole life in my hands, and truly the whole WORLD . . . I am so glad for this, when I see the death, destruction, and decay of this world, earth, and our universe. I know it was not created to last forever, and we were promised it would "pass away" in the end times, yet is sad to watch how mankind is destroying this earth with his greed and the weight of SIN itself. There is NOT a safer place than "in the arms" of my everlasting God.

Next, I am thankful for all that I have: all that I have been entrusted with on this earth, both material and spiritual. I know I have not "done enough" with it. I will work on this and seek God's guidance for the rest of my days. I was watching the full moon over my little "Studio-in-the-Woods," and am amazed at what I have here. This little studio is the third one I have built, and it is the best I have ever had. I love living in this "oasis in the woods," my nice home next to Ha Ha Tonka State Park. It is totally isolated, yet so close to everything we need here at the Lake of the Ozarks. Tonight, I can hear the cicadas and the owls and enjoy the light of the moon illuminating everything around me in a much different and awesome way than during the day.

Thirdly, to speak of the dreams. I dream of so many things, most of them selfish and self serving, I admit. I dream of owning a condo or townhouse in Florida and in Durango, Colorado, for our retirement years. Of course, that is several years away. I also want to continue my photography business, creating portraits of such a high quality and of such individual, almost "trademark" significance, that more people will desire them, enough to pay my "higher prices." YES, it is true . . . I am not the cheapest, nor do I have a desire to be. I think I have spoke of this before: I am NOT going to lower my prices any more . . . They are now at the level I charged back before the turn of the century, around 1998 . . . I can't help it if all these "Newbies" have come in without a clue and changed the expectations of the consumer . . . REMEMBER, you often "get what you pay for" in life. I'm sure they know what they are worth. Oops, didn't mean to digress . . . I also dream of using new technology in my portrait business . . . Some COOL stuff that will enable the consumer to portably view each image as they "appear" . . . but I'm still researching this. As a final thought on photographic dreams, I dream of building my Scenic and Landscape photograph to the point that I am selling more images on canvas of beautiful "moments in time" I have captured. I sell these images, primarily on canvas, signed and numbered, and guarantee them to last 100+ years in your home or business. I need to put more on line, but you can view my "Scenic visions" at goodwinphoto.biz. I have always been told I have a "different way of seeing" . . . I hope you can capture my vision.

And as a final note to the "dream" portion of my life, my vision goes well beyond my own selfish dreams for success and the future . . . I also am capturing a "greater vision" for my life, that specifically includes my service to mankind, and my treasures which I need to "lay up" in Heaven. YES, Heaven and hell are BOTH real places, and you have already chosen which you will inhabit . . . If you don't know my savior, this Jesus whom I serve . . . If you don't know FOR CERTAIN where you will go when your life ends on this earth, call me or text me or email me OR speak with another follower of Jesus (and NO, don't be led astray by cults such as Jehovah's witnesses or people of the Mormon faith . . . they DO NOT hold true to the Word of God, and are in need of God's saving grace as well). There is only ONE way to Heaven, and that is through faith in Jesus Christ as the only begotten Son of God; the One who is also equal to God in all ways, who was there in the presence of God at the beginning of time.

This blog is becoming more than photography, as you can see. If I offend you, I am sorry . . . The condition of your soul is more important than your opinion of me and my little, insignificant blog. Make YOUR life count in all that is good, in the time you have on this earth, and secure your future in eternity. I see a lost and dying world all around me . . . both the people of earth, and the earth itself. This world (specifically the people in it who are unredeemed in their sin) is a hopeless, sick mess. I now have two jobs, and am inspired by my pastor at 2nd Baptist Church in Lebanon. I serve there as Minister of Music part time, as well as spending my days seeking to perfect my craft of photography. I wish you only the best of life, and pray for your salvation in Christ.

May God bless and grant you beauty in all things. I wish you only the best of things, both in life and photography. Remember my tag line . . . "Where Photography becomes A Work of Art."

Facebook, Twitter, & Blog(s), "Oh My."

Just some news for those of you who are "fans," or want to keep up with what I am doing, both business and personal. I am now "working my way" into Twitter. My twitter ID is @photo4art, if you want to follow me. It was originally designed to promote photography (specifically my scenic images) as an art form, but it has turned a bit more personal as of late. I hope to get more photography content posted in the coming months.

Speaking of my scenic images, you can find "most of them" at my secure sales site at Zenfolio. It is easier to send you to http://goodwinphoto.biz, and then it will re-direct you to the other address. I currently have a 20x40 canvas of the Ha Ha Tonka castle on display at the Park visitor's center, and some others slated to be displayed in the Lake of the Ozarks area.

Although I have been a portrait photographer for over 22 years (with many more to come), my dream is to eventually "retire" with my wife & continue my love of landscape & scenic photography as we travel around America. Also, I can't believe what "passes for" salable scenic images on line these days. Once again, you get what you pay for, it seems! And, as I've said before, "If you can't see the difference, don't pay for it." (No, I haven't raised my prices in over 12 years!?!). Oh, and one more thing . . . I am a very picky person, and my own worst critic. I rarely like my own "stuff" anyway! So don't worry about offending me if you don't like something I do . . . That's what our guarantee is all about, (see http://www.goodwinphoto.com - Opening page), and it proves another "old adage" as well . . . "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder." Man, I am full of it today! . . . Oh, and we all are entitled to our own opinions, aren't we :)

Life is too short to sweat the small stuff. It is a diverse world, with plenty of room for all tastes and budgets. Concerning budgets and costs, it's sad, but the cost (to me) on my gallery wrapped canvas prints is really high . . . I've tried other suppliers, but the quality just isn't the same. I believe it is worth it to hang something truly beautiful on your wall that you know will last for 100+ years. Give me a call if you want to stop by and take a look: (573) 873-6353.

Thank you for taking the time to read my Blog!
